Nicole Richter, PhD, is a leading international film scholar whose research focuses on women, gender and sexuality in cinema. Dr. Richter is a visiting professor of Critical Media and Cultural Studies (CMC) and Film at Rollins. She teaches Intro to Film, Media, Peace, and Justice, and Critical Frameworks. She formerly served as the head of the Tom Hanks Center for Motion Pictures and professor of film studies at Wright State University. She is the founder of KinoFemme and KinoQueer, respectively womenβs filmmaking and queer filmmaking collectives. She authored the book The Moving Image: A Complete Introduction to Film, and numerous articles and book chapters including βIn the Mix, the Collaborative Remix to Repair, Reconnect, Rebuild,β β1990s Dark Comedy and the Female Screenwriter,β βThe Feminist Poetics of Sofia Coppola,β βThe Short Films of Wes Anderson,β βTrans Love in New Trans Cinema,β and "Bisexual Erasure in 'Lesbian Vampire' Film Theory.β
